From the Desk of the CEO

You’ve likely heard it before, and it remains as true as ever: the Texas interconnection is distinct.  The Texas grid is largely self-sufficient, and its registered entities are among the earliest adopters of advancements. And yet, equally important are the commonalities we share with our ERO partners and registered entities across the ERO Enterprise. There is tremendous value in learning from one another regarding common risks, lessons learned, replicable successes, and what may be coming around the corner for all regions, while respecting where our needs and approaches may vary.

During this past quarter there were myriad examples of collaboration across the ERO that are central to how we operate at Texas RE.

For example, recently, we had the opportunity to participate in a strategic planning session with the NERC Board of Trustees, ERO CEOs, and ERO Board leaders. It was an opportunity to ensure alignment on our joint mission and shared priorities, and to reinforce our commitment to work with one another toward reliability success in all regions. More locally, in August, Texas RE hosted a pilot E-ISAC workshop that broadened the reach of E-ISAC’s effective VISA model, as well as a meeting in which representatives across the ERO Enterprise explored advancements in the ERO Enterprise’s AI governance. Each of these opportunities strengthens relationships across the ERO Enterprise and helps us identify where our collective experience can advance reliability.

What excites me most, however, is what happens beyond the meeting rooms. Every relationship we build and every idea we exchange creates another opportunity to learn, improve, and contribute. When talented people come together around a shared purpose, exchange their ideas openly, and build relationships grounded in trust and respect, the impact extends far beyond any conference room or initiative.

We have important work underway and even more ahead of us. I look forward to continuing to strengthen these relationships, elevating the exceptional work happening here in Texas, and finding new ways for Texas RE to contribute to grid reliability and the broader ERO Enterprise.

Most of all, I am proud of the people doing this work. Their expertise, commitment, and willingness to collaborate are what makes Texas RE stronger, and I am incredibly proud of what our team is accomplishing.

Reliably,
Jim Albright
