As the Director of Regulatory Policy at Vistra Energy, Brenda Hampton coordinates the NERC, Texas RE, and certain ERCOT advocacy efforts for Luminant Generation and Luminant Energy, subsidiaries of Vistra Energy. Luminant Generation is the largest competitive power generation business in Texas. Luminant Energy, a wholesale marketing and trading business, optimizes and manages the purchases and sales of energy for its retail affiliate, TXU Energy and provides related services to other ERCOT market participants. Luminant Energy is one of the largest purchasers of wind-generated electricity in Texas and the nation.
Ms. Hampton provides strategic guidance and updates to Luminant’s leadership team regarding proposed rules, standards, guidelines, protocols, regulations, and laws that may impact Luminant's operations with a special focus on reliability and security, and offers support and expertise in related reliability and security matters at the PUCT, FERC and/or in legislative affairs.
Ms. Hampton also serves on the Board of the North American Generator Forum and holds a seat on the NERC Standards Committee and ERCOT’s Reliability and Operations Subcommittee. Ms. Hampton has a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Masters in Engineering Management from the University of Missouri. Prior to her current role, Ms. Hampton was plant manager for Luminant’s Valley Power Plant, a three unit gas-fired power plant in north Texas.
