Registration

In this section you will find information about registering with the North American Electric Corporation (NERC). The NERC registration process ensures that no areas lack entities to perform the duties and tasks required by the NERC Reliability Standards, and that coverage is not duplicated.

The entities responsible for meeting the requirements of each NERC and regional reliability standard are identified through NERC registration. All bulk power system owners, operators, and users in the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) region are required to register with NERC. Registration requests are reviewed by Texas Regional Entity (Texas RE).

Visit NERC Entity Registration Instructions for more information on NERC registration. Registration does not prescribe organizational structures, responsibilities or relationships; it simply records which organizations are responsible for meeting the requirements of the standards and ensure that all reliability requirements are addressed in the regions and all parts of an interconnection.

Please be aware that ERCOT market participants must also register with the ERCOT independent system operator. Registration and qualification instructions are found on ERCOT.com External Link.
