Self-Certification
Texas Regional Entity (Texas RE) uses self-certification by entities registered with the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) to affirm that entities meet requirements of applicable, actively monitored NERC Reliability Standards.
Texas RE also conducts self-certifications for the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) Protocols and Operating Guides.
Typically, data is not included with self-certifications. The data is reviewed and validated through subsequent audits or spot-checks. Texas RE reviews all self-certifications and determines final status of compliance when possible violations are indicated by the entity, which may require Texas RE contacting the entity for supplemental information.
NERC Reliability Standards Self-Certification
NERC self-certifications are conducted on the Texas Regional Entity Portal
. NERC-registered entities are notified of each self-certification period at least 30 days before the due date for self-certification form submission.
The 2010 period for NERC-registered entities to submit self-certifications for NERC Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) standards 002-009 and CIP questionnaires is January 1 through February 1.
On the portal, NERC self-certification forms must be filled out and attached to a certification statement, which is electronically signed by the entity's authorized signatory.
Please review the NERC self-certification training below for specifics on how to submit self-certification forms through the portal.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Texas RE Self-Certification
. If you are responsible for a self-certification, and you do not know if you have access to the Texas Regional Entity Portal, contact your organization’s master account administrator (MAA). If you do not know who your MAA is, contact Texas RE Information
