Larry D. Grimm, P.E.
President and CEO

Larry Grimm is President and CEO of Texas Reliability Entity, Inc. (Texas RE, formerly Texas Regional Entity). Mr. Grimm was named Chief Compliance Officer of Texas Regional Entity in October 2007, and in May 2008, Mr. Grimm was named CEO. Mr. Grimm became President and CEO of Texas RE in July 2010.

Mr. Grimm joined the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) in January 1997 as a principal engineer. He later served as the deputy director of the Administration department and the director of the Coordination and Reports department. In October 2004, Mr. Grimm became ERCOT’s Director of Compliance.

Before joining ERCOT, Mr. Grimm was employed by the City of Austin, Texas, Electric Utility for more than eleven years. As the manager of the Generation Engineering and Bulk Power Planning department, Mr. Grimm was responsible for the design, development, and implementation of enhancements or improvements to equipment, systems, and processes at City of Austin power plants, as well as resource, transmission, and distribution planning activities. His previous assignment at the City of Austin was as the manager of the System Control division, where he was responsible for transmission, substation, and distribution protection engineering and construction, power quality and protection analysis, energy management, and energy control center (ECC) operations.

Mr. Grimm began his career in 1974 with Houston Lighting & Power Company (now CenterPoint Energy), where he held positions designing distribution system relay and control systems; developing interconnection and protection requirements; and approving relay and protection systems for customer generation connected to the distribution system. He was also responsible for the purchase, operation, maintenance, and repair of all major electrical equipment installed in generating stations and transmission and distribution substations.

Mr. Grimm has a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. He is a registered professional engineer in Texas.
