Summary of Responsibilities
The Compliance Analyst monitors and investigates compliance with the Electric Reliability Council of Texas, Inc. (ERCOT) Protocols and Operating Guides through data collection, audits and investigation. The Analyst has significant contact with the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT), market participants and the ERCOT Independent System Operator (ISO) to review compliance status. The Analyst ensures the consistency and accuracy of information obtained and prepares information and reports for the Texas RE Board of Directors and the PUCT. The position reports to the Department Manager.
Essential Job Duties
- Conducts assessments (audits, investigations, periodic reviews) of ERCOT market entities to determine compliance with applicable reliability-related regulations, including ERCOT Protocols and Operating Guides. Prepares reports, correspondence and other written documentation of findings.
- Reviews proposed revisions to reliability-related ERCOT Protocols and Operating Guides and related materials. May represent Texas RE at ERCOT committee and working group meetings. Develops recommendations concerning proposed revisions based on clarity, measurability, appropriateness of standard, and administrative efficiency.
- Maintains records and documentation of work product in accordance with Texas RE requirements.
- Uses computer systems to obtain logs, real time information, operational records and other data for compliance needs. Develops and maintains working knowledge of OSI PI software, data archives and other data systems.
- Provides subject matter expert support in Public Utility Commission of Texas enforcement cases.
- Develops and maintains knowledge of applicable reliability-related legal requirements, including ERCOT Protocols and Operating Guides.
- Maintains tracking system for department investigations. Tracks deadlines.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Education
- Bachelor’s degree. A minimum of six years applicable experience may be considered in lieu of four year degree.
Work Experience
- Minimum three years (in excess of education requirements stated above) experience in electric industry or related field.
- Experience with ERCOT region is highly preferred.
