About Us
Headquartered in Austin, Texas Regional Entity (Texas RE) is a functionally independent division of the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT). As mandated by the delegation agreement with the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), Texas Regional Entity performs the regional entity functions described in the Energy Policy Act of 2005 for the ERCOT region. The delegation agreement was approved by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).
Texas Regional Entity is authorized by NERC to develop, monitor, assess, and enforce compliance with NERC Reliability Standards within the geographic boundaries of the ERCOT region.
In addition, Texas Regional Entity has been authorized by the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) and is permitted by NERC to investigate compliance with the ERCOT Protocols and Operating Guides, working with PUCT staff regarding any potential protocol violations.
Texas Regional Entity is independent of all users, owners, and operators of the bulk power system.

Formation of Texas Reliability Entity, Inc.
Texas Reliability Entity, Inc. was formed on January 1, 2010 to become the successor regional entity for the ERCOT region. Texas Reliability Entity, Inc. is seeking approval from NERC and FERC to become the regional entity for the ERCOT region.
The proposed bylaws are in the documents below. Texas Reliability Entity, Inc. membership representatives will vote on February 5 to approve the bylaws.
The proposed Amended and Restated Delegation Agreement and proposed Amended 2010 Business Plan and Budget for Texas Reliability Entity, Inc., which will be submitted to NERC and FERC for approval, are also below.
