Regional Reliability Standards Development

Texas Regional Entity (Texas RE) encourages registered entities and other interested parties to participate in the Regional Reliability Standards Development Process which develops separate regional reliability standards that go beyond, add detail to, or implement NERC Reliability Standards, or that cover matters not addressed in NERC Reliability Standards.

Any entity (organization, company, government agency, individual, etc.) that is directly and materially affected by the reliability of the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) regional bulk power systems may request an ERCOT-specific regional reliability standard to be developed, modified, or withdrawn. To initiate such a request, send the Standard Authorization Request Form (found below) to the Reliability Standards Manager .

The sixteen members of the Reliability Standards Committee (RSC) are elected each year to represent each of seven ERCOT market segments  and ERCOT ISO. The RSC reviews and recommends action on ERCOT-specific reliability standards and regional variances to NERC standards. RSC meetings are open. To join one of the RSC’s standard drafting teams, contact the Reliability Standards Manager .

View the status of active SARs and regional reliability standards under development on the Reliability Standards Tracking site. All interested parties are welcome to submit comments on draft standards through the site during the commenting period. Registration is required.

ERCOT members may join the Registered Ballot Body (RBB) to vote on regional standards. Each ERCOT member company may have one representative in the RBB. (Affiliated member companies must choose the one affiliate that will represent the company on the RBB.) To join the RBB, complete the registration form below, and send to the Reliability Standards Manager . All voting is conducted on the Reliability Standards Tracking site. Registration is required.
